My Favourite Film Post

It’s pretty evident what this post is about; my favourite film of all time is The Breakfast Club! I don’t know if you have watched this film before so to give you a brief idea it is about a group of five students that are given a Saturday detention. These students are all from different social groups, they have ‘nothing in common except each other’ and this Saturday detention. At the beginning they have nothing to say to each other but by 4pm they have shared their secrets and become good friends.

This film is one of, if not the beats 80s movie of all time. I honestly don’t know why I love it so much, I suppose it’s different and I find the story interesting and the characters all have secrets, insecurities and feelings that, looking from an outside perspective you wouldn’t usually associate with characters of these social groups and they find love and friendship with the people they least expected. My favourite characters in this film are Claire Standish, played my Molly Ringwald and John Bender played by Judd Nelson, though each character is important and brings a different story and outlook to the plot.

I have watched this film so many times and am actually going to watch it after I finish this post even though it is 23:35! I love old films like that, I’ve also always wanted to watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s but have never got around to doing so.  The Breakfast Club is my favourite film, but I also like a big variety of movies. I love The Bourne Identity and any war film; I’d never pass watching Black Hawk Down! But I also love a good Rom Com, my favourite being 27 Dresses, the reason for that mainly being that I love the scene when the main character, Jane Nichols (played by Katherine Heigl) tries on all the dresses! There are so many great movies out there but those that you can watch over and over again are quite rare, I suppose that’s why The Breakfast Club is so special to me; because I could never get bored with it! That and, I realised this writing the post, each character goes through something very serious and bravely shares that to a group of people they have never really spoken to before. They each have experienced something that you could relate to and they overcome these difficulties by speaking about their problems and taking each others advise and actually not worrying about what they look like to other people and they aren’t worried about being judged. I can relate to something that eahc character goes through and that is why it is so special to me!

‘To the outside world they were simply the Jock, the Brain, the Criminal, the Princess and the Kook, but to each other, they would always be The Breakfast Club.’
